Our hardware services

Project hardware schedules. The right product, grade and quantity for every fixing category, from decking screws and joist hangers to marine bolts and post stirrups, worked out before construction starts.
Grade advice. We specify to AS 3566.1-2002 for fastener corrosion in timber, AS 1684 for structural framing connectors and AS 1926.1 for pool fencing hardware.
Government and council signage. You provide the requirements, artwork or mock-ups. We handle specification, in-house printing and supply of signs, posts, stirrups and anti-tamper fixings. See government and councils.

Humidity, salt air, UV and moisture all speed up corrosion, and the wrong grade is a costly mistake. Use this guide to specify correctly.

316 SS contains molybdenum, which gives far greater salt-air corrosion resistance than 304 SS. Do not substitute.

Never substitute zinc-electroplated fixings for HDG in rural or structural work. They corrode early and risk structural failure.

The primary fixing for any hardwood project. Screws across our range cover decking, cladding, screening, and structural sub-frames. Pre-drilling is recommended for all hardwood species to prevent splitting. Torx (TX) or Square drive preferred, both prevent cam-out in dense timber. Available in 304 SS for standard outdoor use and 316 SS for coastal and marine environments.

Nails10 products

Structural nails for external hardwood framing, cladding, and connector plate applications. All nails in our range are hot-dipped galvanised or stainless steel, the only appropriate specification for outdoor use. Zinc electroplated nails corrode prematurely and must never be used in external hardwood applications. Use stainless steel within 1 m of a pool and within 1 km of the coast.

Post stirrups prevent direct timber-to-ground contact, significantly extending post service life.
Always use M12 bolts minimum for structural post stirrup applications.

Use only hot-dipped galvanised connector plate nails (30 mm × 2.8 mm) or Type 17 screws (12g × 35 mm) with joist hangers.
Do not use conventional nail guns with joist hangers — use multi-blow collated connector nail guns.

Fencing wire13 products

High tensile (HT) wire allows greater tension with fewer posts, ideal for long straight runs. A natural complement to our hardwood supply. These maintenance products protect and extend the life of all Durable Hardwoods timber species. Annual oiling is recommended for all external hardwood decking and cladding, it preserves appearance, slows weathering, and maximises service life. Available for new installation and renovation of existing weathered timber.

Annual oiling recommended for all hardwood decking and external cladding to maintain colour and maximise service life.
Merbau will naturally weather to silver-grey if left untreated. Structural integrity is unaffected but regular oiling preserves appearance.

Marine and coastal fixings16 products

Specialised hardware for jetties, boardwalks, bridges, and all structures built over or near water. Every product in this category is Grade 316 stainless steel, the only appropriate specification for prolonged saltwater exposure. Grade 316 contains molybdenum, which provides significantly greater resistance to saltwater corrosion than Grade 304. Common questions

Which stainless steel grade do I need near the coast?

Use 316 stainless steel within 1 km of the coast, over water and around pools. It contains molybdenum, which gives far greater salt-air corrosion resistance than 304. For marine structures, every fixing should be 316. 304 stainless suits standard outdoor, suburban and inland work.

Can I use zinc-plated fixings outdoors?

No. Zinc-electroplated fixings corrode early and must not be used in external hardwood work. Use hot-dipped galvanised (HDG) or stainless steel, and never substitute zinc-plated for HDG in rural or structural applications.

Do I need to pre-drill hardwood?

Yes. Pre-drilling is recommended for all hardwood species to prevent splitting. Torx (TX) or square-drive screws are preferred because both resist cam-out in dense timber.

What should I use to fix joist hangers?

Use only hot-dipped galvanised connector plate nails (30 mm × 2.8 mm) or Type 17 screws (12g × 35 mm). Don't use a conventional nail gun. Use a multi-blow collated connector nail gun.

Can you print signs to our artwork?

Yes. We print signs in-house to your artwork, requirements and mock-ups, and supply the posts, stirrups and fixings. Signage hardware meets AS 1725 and AS 1743, and anti-tamper dome head nuts are recommended for public infrastructure.
